Recently, I had a great chat with the amazing digital marketing expert Kim Garst on my podcast. We get into the nitty-gritty of AI text generation (among other things) in the world of content creation, and it was eye-opening. While we both become giddy about the possibilities of AI for personal branding and marketing, we both feel strongly AI generated content needs to feel warm, personable, and, well, human. That is only achievable when you’ve got the right framework to affect the outcome. If we want our AI content to truly resonate with people (and with Google), we need a solid plan to make sure it doesn't fall flat.

Balancing Efficiency & Authenticity

Just because we’re letting AI take the wheel on some tasks doesn’t mean we’re okay with cutting corners on quality. According to Kim, it’s all about giving AI the right data playground to work in, ensuring that our AI content keeps the human touch we all love. Yes, we’re after efficiency, but not at the expense of losing our content’s soul—because our audiences will notice. What does it mean to humanize AI text after all? Who is the human in question? It's you, obviously. So when you humanize AI content, ensure that the humanization is not generic. Don't just tell ChatGPT to make text “conversational” and call it a day. You’ll quickly find out that its definition of “conversational” might be very different from yours.

Teaching AI to Mimic Your Voice

Kim really drove home the idea that humanizing AI means making it sound like you, which takes some effort. “You have to teach it! It’s a training model,” she points out. You take a basic mechanical summary and turn it into an actual narrative, one that's captivating. It’s about tweaking AI to keep the conversation real and personal, making sure it strikes a chord with your audience. Max AI aggregates major large-language models, like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, and lets you use them right from a browser extension. This lets you seamlessly humanize AI text by centering your content around the source of it, allowing for easier editing and decision-making.

Fathom

Ever toyed with Fathom? Kim uses it to nail her sales follow-ups, blending efficiency with the kind of personal touch that makes customers feel truly valued. It describes itself as an AI Meeting Assistant, which "records, transcribes, highlights, and summarizes your meetings so you can focus on the conversation." Ideogram self-describes as being “on a mission to help people become more creative.” The company is developing state-of-the-art AI tools that will make creative expression more accessible, fun, and efficient. It’s pushing proprietary models for text-to-image generation, and allows you to browse a large library of existing generated content from other users on the platform.

Taplio

For LinkedIn content, Taplio offers personalized posts, a chat assistant for ideation and tweaks, carousel creation, and other useful LinkedIn features. Beyond creation, it lets you schedule the content it creates through its own platform (no need to log into LinkedIn), and even helps with lead generation by letting you efficiently comment on specific people’s posts, and automatically import people who interacted with your own.

Invideo AI

Invideo AI is a tool that can create a video from a text prompt, complete with script, scenes, and voiceovers. It offers various templates for different types of content and allows for easy editing and customization.

Submagic

As we recommend short-form content, a good way to support its creation is an effective solution for captions and effects. Submagic is an efficient way to do this, offering transcriptions, transitions, auto-zoom and many other features, all automated without the need to be a video editing wizard.

OpusClip

If you’re currently creating longer content and horizontal videos, a good option to consider is OpusClip. It helps you repurpose your long content into shorts in one click, with features like auto b-roll, AI curation, auto reframing, and viral content templates. It’s a good way of getting your feet wet in the short-form content space if you’re already a creator.
