Judy Stakee is a music industry icon who, until having a personal brand, solely operated behind the scenes. Her specialty lies in helping songwriters find their voice—think Katy Perry, Sheryl Crow, Gavin DeGraw, and nearly every other bigwig in the biz—and, through a comprehensive brand identity, we helped Judy find hers.
Since Judy’s previous brand was purple, we maintained the color scheme as a nod to her past and evolution. We noticed that J and S are complementary in structure, so the logomark merges her initials on top of a music staff.
Judy’s demeanor is soft and open. To reference her working style, we chose a welcoming color palette that sources colors often found in nature.
While Judy is an industry veteran, she holds herself with grace. We evoked her approachable nature in a brand sentence that summarizes her role as a songwriter advocate:
Brand sentence
A true champion of the songwriter who recognizes talent with both her ears and eyes.
For photography, we wanted a mix of a nature with a crisp, ethereal feeling that lets songwriters imagine themselves in the room with Judy. By incorporating a variety of props (guitar, chair, sofa, and more), Judy and our photographer had endless angles and compositions to explore, all of which lend well to the web and social media.
Since working with us, Judy has transformed her business. Initially only providing one-on-one consultations for songwriters, she now offers sold-out songwriting retreats around the world—15+ people, 6 times a year—and credits her brand for the impact she’s made online.
